Attaching an accent on the left side of notehead?

Hi,

Is moving the accent in Engrave mode the only way to put an accent on the left side of a note?

The screenshots above are from Piano Sonata f minor op. 14 with Early Version: Concert sans Orchestre | HN346 | HN 346

Can one currently move an accent horizontally at all?

I can understand why someone wanting to duplicate a publisher’s solution exactly would want this, but from a practical standpoint, with today’s modern notation programs, arranging the accents above the desired notes would be much clearer.

At least with a piano piece, the cost in rehearsal time figuring out the non-standard notation would be less of an issue.

Oh, it is not possible. Sorry. I simply thought it would work, but not.
I would notate it as follows:

I agree, the original notation is likely a stopgap due to lack of vertical space.

If you need to replicate this notation exactly (for e.g. scholarly facsimile reasons), you can always create Playing Techniques that resemble any articulation (they look identical, since they reference the same SMuFL- or other font) and apply them instead in special cases like this — they can be moved freely in Engrave Mode.

This is the notation used by Schumann (not introduced by a publisher). I think it implies that the accent is only for the note, not for the chord. Prko’s is a standard equivalent, but the editor of Schumann should preserve his notational eccentricity.
