In Cubase I get clicks and pops whenever I stop or start playback but only on the bass guitar track.
Steps I have tried:
- Taken all effects off the track.
- Created a new project with only the bass track
- Increased buffers size
- Installed a basic version of Cubase on a fresh Win10 install on the other side of my dual boot PC.
I’ve recorded this (only on my phone unfortunately) to illustrate the problem with an acoustic guitar track for comparison, which has no clicks.

“Your system appears to be suitable for handling real-time audio and other tasks without dropouts”
Can you see the drop-outs in the signal? Is it recorded in the signal? How does it sound when you Export Audio Mixdown? Are you sure no plug-in is involved at all (any Trial)? Do you use any Gate (Channel Strip)?
The clicks do not show up in the waveform and if I don’t press play or stop it plays normally
If I export say, 4 bars it plays normally in MediaPlayer when stopping or starting.
As I said in my first post, there are no plugins involved and I did a clean install of Cubase with no 3rd party plugins on another partition and still have the issue.
I’m just thinking, if it could be that you just stop on the peak of the amplitude (or at least not close to the zero, what is easier with a bass, of course).
