Audio clip not outputting any sound, meters not bouncing

Someone help me out. I have a nuendo 14 session, and no audio is playing on my track. No meters bouncing but when I click on the audio clip with the “speaker/preview” button, number 9 on the toolbar it plays the clip but still no meters bouncing.

Nuendo settings are set to default.

Control room is on.

I’m setting up my laptop for a mobile job, and have the exact same settings on my desktop rig. Desktop rig plays just fine but not on my laptop.

I’ve been using Nuendo since 2007 and I feel like i’m losing my mind, what could cause this issue?

I can play the audio clip in the pool, but not on the timeline.

I just opened up nuendo 13 and I’m still having this problem.

WTF.

Also, this issue persists regardless of if i’m using my UAD Apollo x4 or the internal apple sound card.

Is this in all projects or just one? If you haven’t already then try a clean project from scratch.

It would help if you shared screenshots of your i/o settings, control room settings, and track routing.

Hi @zenandtheart ,

if Control Room is set to “on” inside that specific project, you could turn it off and only use the necessary “normal” OUTs, in order to see if your signal routing goes all the way to the DAW’s master buss (Stereo Out). Sometimes, it can also help to completely delete all INs and OUTs (via the settings window, opened by F4) and then to create new INs and OUTs, perhaps even preceded and followed by a restart of Nuendo.

Another thing that I’d check would be MacOS’ security settings regarding the Audio driver.

Best,
