Using Cubase 13 and trying to get BIAS FX and Helix Native to work. Inputs are shown as active from my Behringer X2442 USB mixer using ASIOALLv2 but neither VST responds to the guitar input. I have also tried using a Positive Grid RIFF interface with exactly the same results. I am convinced there must something I am doing wrong but I can’t figure it out. Any ideas please
Hi,
It is not clear what your audio routing looks like, but what strikes me as unusual is that you seem to have your guitar sims on FX tracks. That is usually not how one would use that kind of plugin (unless you are going for a parallel processing thing on purpose).
It should in theory work, but it seems like a rather complicated setup and I would suggest simplifying it.
Common practice is for a guitar amp sim to put it directly as an insert on the guitar track (in your case “Clean E-Guitar”). Then make sure that the input of that track in the inspector is the correct input from your audio interface/mixer. You already have input monitoring enabled, so that is good.
I have now got the Guitar effects showwing as Inserts in the Inspector window but still no reaction from either VST plugin. I am clearly doing something wrong in terms of audio but I just can’t understand what. Are there any videos that show the correct process for using VST effects - it can’t be tthat difficult can it otherwise nobody would ever use them !!
Well, you still have the plugin on an FX tracks. My idea was to insert it onto the actual Audio Track (as I wrote, the “Clean E-Guitar” track). Forget about FX track for guitar amps, it makes just things more complicated.
Do you hear the “clean” signal coming from your mixer, by the way?
Please make a screenshot of your “Clean E-Guitar” track with the routing sectino open, like this:
There are several tutorials for this on youtube, just search for “Cubase guitar amp tutorial” or something like that.
