Audio doesn't play in Cubase 8 projects

Hey guys,

for some reason Cubase 8 sometimes doesnt play my audio tracks. They appear in the sequencer and also i see the level bars on the mixer, but no sound is coming out.

After restarting the project again and again it eventually plays.

Anyone else having the same problem? Any solutions?

This happened to me, from time to time, in pre-7 versions. It seemed related to letting my Mac go top sleep.

What are your system specs?

I’ve had similar experiences (Cubase v8, Windows x64) where the audio will stop, stutter, or produce a full spectrum feedback wall of sound.

In all cases I was able to reset it, in real-time (while it was doing it) by going into Device Setup → VST Audio System → Activate ASIO-Guard and uncheck it, hit apply … wait a few seconds … then re-enabled it, hit apply again.

You situation is probably different, but it’s worth a try.
