Audio dropout Mac vs Pc : comparing i9-14900th 192gb with David Kudell mac studio template

Windows 11
i9 14900k (no issue, I undervolted the cpu a long time ago, never get past 30% usage and temps are okay)
192 gb ram
Babyface RME Pro fs
Cubase project with 0 effects
571 kontakt tracks each containing the same patch (CSS Violins 1 staccato)
150 tracks have midi data playing a short ostinato
all tracks are purged/update sample pool

Hello, I created a test project to compare the performance of my computer with David Kudell with his mac studio

  1. First question, why does David Kudell template uses 130 Gb of ram for 1600 tracks in vepro, while my test project uses around 140 gb ? Even if I delete all midi data and purge everything

  2. While creating the template, I could get the project playback at 64 samples with 0 audio glitches, 25% cpu usage at most. (Asio guard set to high)

But as soon as I restarted cubase, the project was unplayable, I get “cpu overload” pop-up even with 2048 buffer size in my RME settings, why is that ?

Regarding the discrepancy between yours and his memory usage, are you using the same preload amount Kudell is using? I hadn’t seen his video on this topic in a while so I don’t remember if he mentioned his own setting.

Another question would be, and this may be obvious, did you disable the other articulations in the CSS instruments? It is my understanding they don’t offer “individual” patches like many other developers do, and the savings in preload usage would be significant if you hadn’t.

yes I am using 6kb in kontakt

No only 1 articulation is activated

I updated the gigabyte bios to the latest version yesterday, now the exact same project test load at 180 gb of ram, it makes no sens…
Since the bios update, scrolling in the project has become very laggy too

someone told me about core parking, should I disable core parking ? only for cubase ?
