Audio dropping out :( Please help

I just upgraded from cubase 5 to cubase 7 (a HUGE leap!), however, much to my dismay during audio recording, my audio will drop out and stop recording completely at random ( however the average duration of recording that can be done before a drop out is approximately 30 - 120 seconds). The brick indicating the track is recording will continue auto scrolling, but the sine wave that is the audio wave file vanishes. I am using an RME Babyface interface that has rock solid drivers. It never faild me on cubase 5. What’s going on??

also in a blank new project? any “older” plugins loaded?

What kind of pocessor and ram os you use?

I clicked on the button you said to press under the audio -vst menue and it worked!!! No more drop outs!! Now my question is what exactly did I just enable/disable??
