I have had Dorico crash four times in the past few hours as it was opening. It stalls out and says “audio engine process died.” I’ve had some ongoing crash issues sporadically that seem to be related to audio, and I would really like to get these resolved. I believe I have everything installed/updated correctly, but I’m admittedly rather clueless. Thanks in advance.
I’m having the same issue on a mac. I recently installed version 4 on a computer that has 3.5 still installed. Would this be part of the problem? I’d really like to get this thing up and running.
Hi @JMT53 , no, having both D3.5 and D4 installed at the same time is not a problem at all. Only running both programs at the same time would .
So Dorico4 does not launch with you any more at all, is that correct? You can’t get to Dorico’s menu and do **Help > Create Diagnostics Report", right?
If that is the case then please execute the attached script. Simply download and unzip it. Then do a double click on it to start the gathering of diagnostics data.
If it does not do because of security alerts from MacOS, then please open a Terminal window and copy and paste the following text:
chmod +x [full path to script file]
where you have to exchange [path to script file] with the complete path to the script file. Then hit the return key and try again. The script shall create a zip file on your desktop. Please send that zip to me. Thanks
Hi, was there a solution for this issue? I have never been able to get Dorico 4 to open. I always get either this error message or one about RSS feed requests and cannot move beyond them. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled Dorico, via the Download Manager, and all associated libraries multiple times. I have been running Cubase 11, 12 and Dorico 3.5 with no problem to date and cannot understand why only this program has issues. I have the same issue whether using my soundcard or my computer’s internal audio system. thanks!
ULF,
Ive answered your questions in RED below and have attached the file your requested.

If that is the case then please execute the attached script. Done! Simply download and unzip it. **Done!**Then do a double click on it to start the gathering of diagnostics data. Done! File is Attached.

Hi @HelenS , there is no general answer why this issue happens, most likely it is a “rotten” component or plug-in that causes this, but could be also a driver issue or so.
Therefore, my advice is for you is, install Dorico again and then follow the same instructions as I gave to user JMT.
I’'m very certain that we will get you up and running sooner or later as well. Trust me. For a beginning I just need such diagnostics file.
Thanks Ulf. I most recently reinstalled this morning - should I do it again? And do I run the script while Dorico is stalled on opening or at any time - sorry if that’s an obvious question but I’ve never had to do anything like this before for software. Thank you!
Hi @HelenS , okay, no need to reinstall it again, but try once more to launch Dorico and when it is gone again run my script. Btw, are you on Win or Mac? Because that script is for Mac only, but I have also another one for Windows: CreateDoricoDiagnosticsReport.bat.zip (809 Bytes)
Hi @JMT53 , then let’s do it the long way:
Do a Spotlight search for Terminal.app and launch that, a small window will open.
The script file from me that you’ve unzipped, please move it to your Desktop.
In the Terminal window copy and paste following line:
Thank you. When I double-click on the unzipped script, I get a message asking program I want to use to open it. I’ve tried adding via Terminal (I’m on Mac) but I don’t know exactly what to put so that’s not working for me either. Do I use the square brackets? And if the file is in my Downloads, what would the complete pathway be in that case? Thanks, Helen
Hi @JMT53 , I’m completely puzzled. Where did you get that DoricoDiagnostics file from that you attached to an earlier posting? You said you are on Mac, but the diagnostics files all come definitely from a Windows machine.
Please have a look on you Desktop, is there any file called DoricoDiagnosticsReport.zip. If yes, please delete it and run again the procedure like mentioned before. Then, after you did, is there a new DoricoDiagnosticsReport.zip file on your desktop. If so, please attach that one to a reply here. Thank you very much.
