Audio failing during playback?

For some reason my audio fails during playback frequently. When this happens Dorico tends to lag a lot and I occasionally hear popping sounds. The AU I usually use is either my mac speakers or my headphones. I have been using dorico 3.5 for about a year now and this problem has only been happening for the past few days but it has been significantly affecting my workflow. Does anyone have any advice? Thank you in advance for any help!

I don’t know anything about your project or machines, so kind of shooting in the dark. There is not just one answer, but that often means that your computer can’t keep up for one reason or another- or there is a configuration issue. For those, changing the audio buffer size can resolve it,or lowering the number of heavy VST/Samples you might have loaded. And you might take a look at your CPU/memory load while Dorico runs.

It could also mean that something else has changed your settings, like if you run 48k normally but switch to 44.1 inadvertently because you sent to youtube or something. Ulf can answer better, but thought I’d try because of the time there.

Also, welcome

Welcome to the forum @WilliamT .

In order to get a first overview, could you please do from the Dorico menu Help > Create Diagnostics Report and post the corresponding zip file here. Thanks
