Audio input for virtual instruments

Hello there,

I know from here Our Technologies | Steinberg and here Audio-Ins for VST3 Instruments | New Features in Cubase Pro 9 - YouTube that VST3 instruments support audio input.

What I want to ask is this: what is the limit of side-chain inputs for a VST3 instrument? Can I have the option to route more than 2 audio tracks to a VST instrument? What about a complete drum kit let’s say, send 8 audio tracks to the VST3 instrument?

Does anyone have any ideas on this?

The VST3 spec allows multiple input busses as aux busses. Cubase 9 only supports 1 bus.
