Audio Interface sound card issues Cubase 6

Could anybody help. Have recently got new computer Windows 7 64 bit. Intel i7 CPU 960 3.20GHz 3.19 RAM 12.0 gb

I upgraded to Cubase 6 too.

My Delta sound card would not fit in new machine - which worked great in the old machine - as it was not PCI-ex so I had to buy a new EMU 0404. It works on Cubase 5 but never works on Cubase 6 in the new machine - just don’t get any sound out to the amp though I have been around and around clicking the right settings - I think.

Can somebody recommended an audio interface that they know for a fact will work with a new 64 bit computer running Windows 7> The Tascam 122Mii seems to be well reviewed - if I got that would all the problems be over?

I’m not interested in anything much passed £200 as I really only just recording one voice or instrument at a time and really don’t need 8 or 16 inputs etc. I imagine the Steinberg stuff is best but it’s out of my range.

Other than does the EMU work for others with Cubase 6 and my kind of machine?

Thanks!

You would think if it works with C5 it should work with C6 on the same machine!

Unless it was Cubase5 32bit perhaps, but otherwise I see no reason why it can’t work.

Hi Strophoid

Just listened to One Way Out - you’ve got something there. At first I wasn’t sure about the very light drums with such a great heavy bass but it’s different and builds. Very good.

For the hell of it if you search SUper Can George - you can find something of mine but it’s very different, I specialise in good ideas but badly produced! But I like catchy choruses.

And I guess you are both right if it works with one it ought to work with the other. Thanks.

One more thing - God I don’t know if Cubase 5 is 32 bit on my new 64 bit machine, presumably if I installed it would automatically become 64 upon recognising my machine no? - I definitely didn’t press any special buttons - sorry but thanks for your help again.

The easiest way to find out is when it loads Cubase, watch the text in the bottom of the Window. It should say there what version is loading.

Thanks for the listen, it’s not quite done yet but I haven’t got much time lately. Thanks for the compliment! blush
I’ll look you up

Yes, you are right, thanks just spotted it as it was loading.

it seems I have Cubase 5 on 32 bit working and Cubase 6 on 64 not outputting from the card.

I wouldnt mind just going to a shop and buying a new card/ audio interface if anyone has a good recommendation that’s not too fancy.

Thanks

I still think your old card should work fine in C6, but if you want a new one, Steinberg literally yesterday released a new line of interfaces including a small desktop interface which should be shipping soon. If that doesn’t work with Cubase 6 nothing will :stuck_out_tongue:

In the meantime I take it you have checked the proper ASIO driver is selected in cubase and gone through the in and out connections tabs and made sure the channel out assignments haven’t defaulted to not connected?

Sorry to annoy all the experienced people but on Cubase 5 my Device Set up reads as below and it works

DEVICE SET UP

  1. MIDI PORT - E-DSP MIDI PORT TOP TWO BOXES

  2. QUICK CONTROLS- E-DSP MIDI PORT 3000 MIDI Input SAME FOR MIDI OUTPUT

  3. VST AUDIO - E-MU ASIO – normal etc

  4. BIG BOX - IN PCL-in-1 ACTIVE
IN PCL-in-2 ACTIVE IGNORE REST UNTIL
OUT at bottom of list ASIO OUT 1 ACTIVE
    ASIO OUT 2 ACTIVE

  5. VST SYSTEM LINK PCI in L-1 ASIO INPUT
ASIO OUT IN 1 ASIO OUTPUT

But in Cubase6 it just says ASIO 1 and then inactive then OUT SAYS ASIO 1 ACTIVE AND ASIO 2 ACTIVE BUT NOTHING COMES OUT of the amp There is no PCL-in1 option.

Then in VST SYSTEM LINK for Cubase 6 it says Asio in 1 Asio Input and ASIO out in 1:

Can you spot where I am going wrong gang? Thanks.
