Audio Issues in Dorico

Hi,

I haven’t been able to hear anything in Dorico Pro 5 for 2 days now.
At first I couldn’t open Dorico, and I got the same error message that kzarider wrote about on 9.2.24. Then I put the VST files in the trash, rebooted the computer, and I was able to use it again. This time though, I don’t have sound.

-When I go. to Preferences and set the audio to be heard on either Laptop Speakers or Headphones – no avail.
-When I go to the Play Tab and click the (e) icon next to the HALion Sonic Instrument, there are no Instruments listed.
-I tried downloading the VST Updates from Download Assistant – no avail.
-I saw the Recommended Sounds (HALion Sonic 7.1.0 and HALion Sonic Selection) were not installed, so I tried installing them – no avail.
When I try to load an instrument into HALion Sonic in the Play Tab – no avail.
-I tried removing the VST Files again – no avail.

What am I missing? Did I do too much to try to fix the problem? It’s frustrating, because I’m working on multiple projects at once. This includes a Christmas project for this year (see attached), which is the file I’m having trouble with.

Any help you can give me would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum @pkeefe33 , and thanks for the project file. Just looking at that data, I don’t see yet, what made the audio not play.
According tot he data I would not expect audio problems. Well, maybe it has to do with pets or other external factors.
Could you please also do from Dorico’s menu Help > Create Diagnostics Report and post the corresponding zip file here. Thanks a lot
Ulf

Hi @Ulf , thanks so much for getting back to me.

I just created the Diagnostic Report. You can view the zip file here.

Hi Peter,
my assumption goes towards file permission problems for the contents files.
To check that, please open a Terminal window (do a Spotlight search for it) and into that window copy and paste the command

find /Library/Application\ Support/Steinberg/Content -ls > ~/Desktop/SMTGContents.txt

That shall create the file SMTGContents.txt on your Desktop. Please post that also here. Thanks

My name is Paul.

After I pasted the Command in the Terminal, it created the SMTGContents.txt file, but this post won’t allow me to upload it for some reason – it says it is not an Authorized file. (??)

On a different note, here’s an update: When I go to other Dorico projects, the Halion Sonic 7 program opens with the sounds all loaded. And when I highlight notes, or do playback – I hear sound! It’s only in the file I attached where I can’t hear anything.

Hi Paul, excuse me please for naming you wrongly.
And for the file as well, I should have told you to zip it up before posting.
Apologies.
But if it is only that one file which produces no sound, have you tried reapplying a playback template (from Dorico 's menu choose Play > Playback Template). Does that bring back sound?

I just went to Play > Playback Template, I chose “HSO, Halion Sonic Sel., Olympus”, and hit apply. It brought back the sound! Thanks so much for all your help!
