Audio playback is broken

I’m currently using Cubase Pro 13 and have been having the most frustrating experience trying to get my playback to work. Currently, the playback only works whenever loop record is enabled. This would be annoying but manageable, if it weren’t for the fact that the audio that does play back is horrendously out of sync/delayed in some capacity. It is only during playback, as the bounced mixes have all printed as they should without any of the aforementioned issues. This has been an issue for quite some time, my old fix being that I would just update my Windows. However now, be it that I am still on Windows 10, I am no longer able to crutch on that solution.

Hi and welcome to the forum,

Could you try in the Cubase Safe Start Mode [Disable preferences], please?

If it doesn’t work, could you try to rename/remove/delete all Cubase versions preferences folders, to get the factory settings?

Cubase Preferences folders are:

  • Mac: ~/Library/Preferences/Cubase X
  • Win: %appData% \Steinberg\Cubase X_64

Where the X is the Cubase version (for example 15).

Found a bandaid adjustment; It’s most likely something to do with the Focusrite USB drivers. When I have the output set to the Focusrite USB ASIO, it has the issue. When I set it to Generic Low Latency ASIO Driver, it’s totally normal. This unto itself has issues as I’d like to keep the latency low. I am not sure why that is the issue, but I’ll dig a little deeper.

Hi,

Make sure, you have the latest driver version installed.
