Interesting. I’d love to know! I watched all the videos Steinberg posted on the new C7 features and there wasn’t much said about different signal flow.
C6
Signal (audio or vsti)
arrives at ‘Channel Input’
then goes to:
‘Inserts’ 1-6
then goes to:
the ‘E.Q.’ section
then goes to:
‘Sends’ where it is ‘taped off’ but dry signal continues to:
‘Fader’
then goes to:
‘Inserts’ 7-8
then goes to:
Output
C7
Signal (audio or vsti)
arrives at ‘Routing’
then goes to:
‘Pre’ Section
then goes to:
‘Inserts’ 1-6
then goes to:
the ‘E.Q.’ section
then goes to:
the ‘Strip’
then goes to:
‘Sends’ where it is ‘taped off’ but dry signal continues to:
‘Fader’
then goes to:
Inserts 7-8
then goes to:
Output
One thing I noticed is that with C7 Inserts 7-8
don’t seem to have a colour marking like in C6
to show there is a Pre/Post difference.
It also depends on how you have configured it as well, because this is very, very adjustable.
Yoy can move the EQ anywhere within the strip, you can put the inserts ahead of the strip or the strip ahead of the inserts also.
Hmmm… not sure I follow… ‘moved’ (to another slot…?) or ‘switched’ (on each send)…?
Your post also implies, (and apologies if I’m reading you wrong), the default has changed - i.e. sends in C7 are defaulted to pre-fader…?!
In C6, all (audio) sends were defaulted to post-fader, and one could choose to switch any to pre-fader via the little button on the send, that then lit up orange.
Just going on what you say, if desired it seems the action now is on the user to switch a send to post-fader…
