Audio to midi conversion, tempo detection next generation needed

although we have it for years in cubase for monophonic audio with Vari-Audio, seems cubase is out of the game and not keeping up in that regard.

there is Melodyne for years analyzing polyphonic audio(converting to midi too probably) .

but now days with AI power, some new (to me at least) softwares can convert polyphonic audio to midi like this one Prism - Audio to Midi – Aurally Sound LLC

and i think the new Studio one or what ever it called now, has it too.

i think its time for Vari-Audio to analyze polyphonic audio, and also to have a simple command from menu to convert audio to midi without going trough Vari-Audio.

and also better tempo detection(tempo mapping for complex music), cubase is not very good at it now days

Hi - Yes, its like this now in FSP v8…

I have it, so can already ‘round-trip’ back to Cubase, on the few occasions I’d need it… But agreed about Cubase falling behind a little on this. The convenience of workflow shown, using ‘drag-n-drop’ would be great inside Cubase itself - notably for polyphonic material.

Maybe add the ‘Feature Request’ tag to this thread and gauge others support for it..

meanwhile prism audio-to-midi converter is quite good:
