Audio Track with Wavering Volume

I’m just starting with Cubase AI 9 and my first audio track is an acoustic guitar that on playback and also export, has dramatically wavering volume, sometimes going all the way to silent and then returns. It sounds like really super heavy compression or something. I have an imported guide track that plays fine. I haven’t done anything to the guitar track that I know of. The audio waveform looks fine. It doesn’t show any missing audio.

Any advice or ideas of what’s wrong would be appreciated.

Hi,

Did you use any track preset? Or did you use project template provided with Cubase? Sometimes there Compressor or even Gate used (called Dynamics in Ai version). Double-check if this plug-in is inserted. If yes, adjust the settings.
