Yes. Nice work @awesomeaudio
All good, clean fun - in one sense you’d think some of this was ‘low-hanging fruit’ to update and correct, as it were… But of course, this is highly complex software and there’s no such thing as an ‘easy fix’. Years and years can roll by.
I’m sure they know about these things (or are at least added on to a ‘to-do’ list somewhere)
It’s always about priority, scheduling and resource. And trying to keep customers happy.! And get new users on board.!
Yeah I know…
I’m just a big on details kind of guy… and these small things add up to create a “feel” of the software - UX.
I’ve really taken the time to try and leverage every ounce of power out of the software… so I run into all the small 1% things.
But years pass, and then these 1% things add up…
Hopefully now that Steinberg has consolidated the old UI elements into current/modern ones and have added some major features people have wanted… they can focus more on the details, and performance.
… Although… there’s lots of 1% details to get into with every new feature as well.
I dream of a release cycle where they only focus on the small boring 1% things…
I guarantee a whole ton of people here will agree 100% with that.! Including me.
I’m drawn to remembering the Ableton ‘freeze’ between Live 8 and Live 9 (2009 - 2013), when they’d issued a big public apology and went on to re-focus efforts into just fixing bugs and bringing major stability back to the program (and a 64bit engine) - leaving aside big new features/additions etc…
While I’m not saying similar drastic action is needed for Cubase (Nuendo), the same intention and purpose wouldn’t go amiss for one main release in the future, certainly.
I felt that way about Folder Groups a little bit, although, I am a bit attracted to the idea - again there’s some 1% details in the new feature I’m questioning. Haven’t updated yet anyways.
Certainly, I would feel that way about Clip Launcher being added… I’m not totally opposed to it - but not before other things.
I’m surprised and also not surprised my thread on overhauling the preset system didn’t get more love… Again, one of those things that on the surface seems boring and non-priority… But would totally change the way people work and create for the better… being able to open multiple insert plugins on screen with preset browsers fixed open… would allow rapid auditioning of effect chains, and sound design.
was linked above (IMPROVE PRESETS + MENUS - static pop-out browser instead of drop-down, save/replace, more - Cubase - Steinberg Forums)
…Maybe it was too lengthy of a post…
Boring details do have an effect on creative output… has anyone heard about what a music producer does? Maybe a lost/confused/misunderstood art these days… edit I’ll put it this way - budgeting a production (music or film) in a excel sheet seems like a boring officey thing - but affects the entire process and output quality of the project.
Yes - a very big post; I think you’re right. Nobody is ready to take in that amount of info, all in one go…
Maybe you can split it down to three or four separate ‘FR’ threads.? You can always cross-link inside each of them, keeping a tie to the same general ‘presets/menus’ topic.?
I did my best to summarize in the opening statement, but looking back, I could have done it betterr. oh well.
The lack of QC on sooo many areas of the interface is really frustrating.
I’m planning on making a “Skip New Features for One Release Cycle” thread/poll in the next few days.
