When working on very large projects an auto save can take quite a long time. I find Auto Save pops up at annoying times and I tend to back off the save frequency to keep things moving, which can lead to heartbreak when crashes happen.
Would it be worthwhile having and option that pops up a menu saying, “Would you like to Auto Save Now? Yes or Later” and it’s just a matter of hitting enter to save. This would be an option that could be enabled in preferences.
Would anyone find this useful when dealing with huge projects?
I does have its dangers I know but it would be more of a reminder than a constant break to workflow. More often than not we’d all hit enter for yes, but when you have clients breathing down your neck and you need to stop for 30 secs just after they have made a request is a bit of a pain.
I am not sure if such a dialog window would be the lesser evil if it keeps on popping up every 5 minutes.
Wouldn’t it be easier to just temporarily disable autosave all together in the general preferences? Maybe set a timer on vibration for the time being?
Nothing wrong with your feature request, it’s just not for me
I understand why you wouldn’t like it, but when I do turn it off I often forget to turn it back on and get caught out. On large projects saving can take so long, getting up around 45 secs, and that’s working on SSD’s. A little reminder rather than consuming around 7% (with 10 min auto save enabled) of booked studio time might be nice.
And it would be an option, so you could just not enable it.
