Auto spacing and manual movement

Dorico does a wonderfull job spacing everything and avoiding collisons, But when text or symbols (like dynamics, rehearsal marks, measure numbers or instrument names on change instuments) causes to apply a greater the distance between staves, I wished that it also takes manual position of items in to account. When I move dynamics or text etc closer to the staff (and probably to the left of the position to avoid collissons)m the larger space between staves is never adjusted back automatically.

Is there a way to have the automatic vertical spacing take manual positioning of items on the staves into account?

If not, whis would be a big wish for a future release!

In case of text you can disable Avoid Collisions in Engrave Mode, and in case of dynamics or other items sometimes you get better results by flipping and then moving them. Both suggestions affect vertical spacing.

The general answer is “no”, although @Vadian has provided a couple of ways you can work around this.

The dev team has explained that this was a conscious decision, to avoid a case where you move an item to resolve an issue, which causes Dorico to recalculate positions, which causes another issue, etc.
