Just a clarification for me… I cant believe I’m even asking this.
If I have multiple audio tracks of the same content but different records lengths, ( for instance boom track and Lav track, or production sound and a couple of wild camera mics ) can I select them in Nuendo and have it simply slip them into sync?
Sure sounds like Audio Alignment , but I tried that, and the result was a dog’s breakfast.
Yes, I can achieve it manually, but with the expected fussing around.
I note it is a trivial thing to do in the three NLE’s I have access to. Select/Sync. Done.

But holy 2026.5… the “Premiere Media Production System” can’t just sync identical take (different lengths ) audio tracks?? I mean SYNC is kind of basic.
Auto-align won’t do what you need, unfortunately. That’s for phase aligning multitracks when they are already “in sync”. It won’t slip your audio around. Even Auto-Align Post 2 won’t do that. If I’m not mistaken, the market-leader DAW for post-production, ProTools, won’t do that either. Perhaps NLEs have that natively because it is expected that sync at that level is done during assembly, and that is done in NLEs?
The only tool in Nuendo that can sync multiple audio files like that is Field Recorder Workflow. But unfortunately it uses timecode for sync, so if your audio was just randomly recorded with no sync among various devices, AFAIK it won’t work. The metadata also needs to be correct.
The only program I know that can sync different tracks with no TC, based on the audio content itself, is Matchbox 2 (which is a great investment, btw. Highly recommend!).
I use all the NLE’s ( Premiere, FCPX, Resolve ) and the fact is that usually, aligning multiple recordings will occur there before I get to the audio ( multi camera clips etc ). They all handle it very well, with no issues. Click, done.
BUT… I still just can’t wrap my head around the need to play, nudge, jog, events around to sync them in a dedicated audio post production environment!!!

What you need is for Nuendo to look at the TIMESTAMP of each file, and place it at it’s ORIGIN. For this to work, you have to make sure your project timecode starts EARLIER than your earliest audio file’s timestamp. Otherwise it will not work.
When I have had to do this I make the start time of my project 00:00:00:00 so that any audio files with correct timestamps get placed in their correct time position.
In Nuendo, the easiest way it so use EDL import feature, if you can have access to an EDL file from your production team.
