A common way to display notes moving between staves in a grand staff is to connect them with a line.
My request is to have an automated line that connects the relevant voice.
Set your lines to start/end on a note. Select the first and ctrl-click the second, then hit the line of your choice. (Hardly difficult)
Yes, it is hardly difficult - like many things which have been hardly difficult in the past that can now happen automatically (or easier).
I can’t check at the moment but what happens if you move the note rhythmically?
The line will move with the notehead.
The problem with your “automatic” suggestion is that Dorico has no way to know exactly which notes in which voices you want to connect!

I can’t immediately think of many cases when one wouldn’t want it just connected to the first note in that voice - at least at the outset (like what happens when pressing S).
… but which voice! There could be many possibilities.
For example, if you move a note to the opposite staff, it connects to the previous note in that voice in the original staff.

If you use a cross-staff note (N/M) a line connecting on the original staff will remain connected…

My request is for the line to happen automatically when you press M/N.
It may well be a bad or impossible idea but I wanted to ask anyway.
But there are equally many cases where you would not want that.

Dare I say hence the Engraving Options dialog or any dialog even existing?
