Automation Lanes Changes in Cubase 15 (a step backward!)

Love the updated automation lanes behaviour (where it shows the most recently touched parameters). However, we seem to have lost the list of parameters with data on them. This seems to be one step forward, and two steps back! Can we not have the option to see both? Not being able to show used parameter lanes is slowing me down considerably.

Or have I missed something, somewhere?

Thanks

Steve

Thank you. Can you also please re-instate automation lane behaviour in Cubase 15? Used automation lanes/parameters were always visible at the top prior to Cubase 15. Now Cubase only shows recently touched parameters, which is far less useful and a step backward, IMO. It would be far more beneficial if both could be displayed. Thanks.

Hi Steve,
There are currently no plans to change the new behavior. There is a command to “Show All Used Automations,” but I’m sure you already know that. Could you tell me why this doesn’t work for you?

I believe he’s referring to what i wrote here: C15: When selecting automation in the Project Window, I can't see which ones are being used - #12 by Electriks

If so, I agree that it’s an issue that slows work down considerably. the recently-touched feature is fantastic…we just need to be able to see all the parameters like we used to be to, as well.

I think Steve is talking about the used automation parameters that were listed with a * when the automation lane was not visible.

Yes, I do apologise. I’d come to rely on them just being at the top, and forgot about ‘show used automation’. Must be my age :man_facepalming:t2:

Thanks for the reminder!

Although, I must add, when working with just one lane open, it’s still helpful to be able to jump between used automation lanes without having to open all lanes, as this can get cluttered very quickly.

Yes, “Show All Automation” shows all automation, but as you say it clutters up things in a big way especially when you have lots of automation, and you need to scroll and search for what you need. Before C15 I was always able to quickly and intuitively select a specific parameter from the drop-down menu, and for me this is gone as well in C15.

I’m certain this is a simple bug that can be easily addressed since it’s a great feature that’s been there for as long as I can remember.

I also posted this

all used automation is gone when closing lanes and re-open them
it reads automation back, but i cant see/open it through the menu and that little plus button
i dont think this is supposed to happen
i had to go back to 14 because of this behaviour

but: maybe im missing the point and simply need a good tutorial on this, for old people who are really used to the old behaviour…automation is such a bit part of todays workflow.
Changing the way it works is a big thing for me :stuck_out_tongue:

Although the new touch automation seems like a convenient feature to work quickly when a plugin is already open, I think they should still have the automated parameters always showing in the list as they use to as well, leaving it up to the user to decide how to make a selection. Otherwise what is really the point of having a pull-down list any longer. There really was no good reason to remove this option from the app. I myself have been using DAW’s for the past thirty something years. Unfortunately, I get the feeling some times that the people programming these apps don’t really use them much themselves. If they did, they wouldn’t just remove features that professionals have been using for years now.

completely agree! This needs to come back.
