If you watch the linked video you will see that when I write new automation in Cubase 8 using my MCU Pro a previously written Node disappears. Is there a setting I can change to have the newly created automation appear without changing what has previously been written? Thanks.

I would say, this is done by reducing an Automation points. You can change the Reduction Level in the Automation Settings, in the Automation Panel.
