Autosave folder creation in CB14 Elements

Hi all.
I upgraded to 14 Elements at the beginning of the year and am loving having the extra features. Having been using 11 AI for a few years, I’m still figuring out all the new things I can do. First question:

1: I’ve been doing some housekeeping with all my projects. In 11 all the BAK files were stored in the main project folder as you know. I opened a project last night and CB seemed to automatically create the autosave folder and move the files there. Cool feature. Thing is, not all projects have done this when I’ve opened them. Some have, but haven’t moved all of them and in some cases, ANY of the BAK files there. Am I missing something? Can I make CB do this on all projects rather than doing it manually?
I read somewhere else here a few people debating the need for it. Personally I prefer a tidy project folder.

2: I can now export video. Only MP4’s though. I can’t find any way of changing the file format. Is this a limitation of Elements?

I probably have many questions but I’ll leave it there for now. After so long on AI, I feel like a kid with new toys. Lol.

  1. Cubase only moves the backup files that belong to the project file you have opened to the autosaves folder. Maybe you have some other project files in the folder, e.g. from “save new version”, Cubase won’t move those unless you open that project.
  2. No idea, don’t do video, but from the Pro Manual:
    Videos are exported in the following format:
    ● Container format: MP4
    ● Video compression codec: H.264 without long group of pictures (Long GOP) sequences
    ● Resolution: 1920 x 1080 px (Full HD)
    So it seems like mp4 is a fix default.
