Anybody using Avid S1 in 2026 for live dub style mixing in real time? I want to automate my live passes? How does it work with Cubase/Nuendo? Or is anybody using the SSL UF8? I need a controller that i can do fast constant fader up and down movement with out lag. Mackie control is not it. I wish they continued the Nuage for silicon Macs because it worked great.
Have you considered Softube Console 1 Fader?

We sometimes do the same thing for different reasons, so it would be good to know what that means. “Fast fader movements” are probably not limited to “dub style mixing”.
Was the concern with the Mackie the lag before the fader responded to automation? I think that may have been a protocol issue, meaning any device with the same protocol would suffer the same issue, potentially.
If you’re worrying more about the writing part I think that may be related to buffer size, at least in some cases with the s1.
I have a controller that has mackie control. It lags. In reggae we have a thing we call “mix” where we move the fadder up and down to get a particular effect. MCU just doesn’t work for that. The Nuage was using Eucon and it worked good for it that’s why I was looking at the S1 but heard that it doesn’t work too well with cubase/nuendo don’t really know. The SSL uf8 uses I guess the 360 so was wondering does that react different than using it as MCU? Before I dump money into like 3 units just trying to get feedback.
I move the fader up and down as well when I mix. Up and down is up and down. I was just wondering what the specific problem was.
Nuage does not use Eucon. My s1 works just fine. The only thing is that not all of the Eucon functionality works in Nuendo, but that’s comparing it to Prot Tools and has nothing to do with faders of course.

So do you experience any of the disconnect issues people talk about that forces you to reboot your program in the middle of projects? The faders movements in real time read fast an automate with no issues?
On Nuendo and Windows 11 the disconnects that I’ve experienced have only occurred when I’ve switched apps. So if I’m continuously working in Nuendo I don’t have disconnect problems. If it’s happened it’s been very rare.
There isn’t the delay that I experience with MCU. Like I said, I think some of the automation write may be related to buffer size.
I think your best bet is to find a seller that accepts returns, pick the option that seems the best, and then just try it out for yourself. I’m not entirely sure just what it was that bothered you with the other unit since you didn’t describe it, so it’s a bit hard to know just what is “fast enough” for you, for read or for write.
