Hi there, I am a bit confused because when I change something in a solo voice (for example erasing some chord symbols) then the chord symbols are also gone in the score. How can I avoid this?
Welcome to the forum, @enrico.ehlers!
In general, if you delete something (if that’s what you mean by “erase”), that item no longer exists in the project and won’t appear any more anywhere. Instead, for many kinds of objects — including chord symbols — you can hide some of them in one layout while keeping them visible in another. To do this, select the ones you want to hide and, in the Properties Panel, set the properties scope to Locally. Then switch on the Hidden button.
It will be hidden only in the layout you’re currently working on.
But there are also options to choose where chord symbols appear (which layout, which staves…) That’s maybe what you’re looking for?
Chords, particularly, are not “on” a particular staff – they exist in the score at a particular point, and staves can be set to show them, or not. So deleting a chord will delete it everywhere.
There are Layout Options to control when and where chords are shown, and you can also create Chord Symbol Regions to affect changes in certain bars.
Hi and thank you very much for the quick response. Yes, it’s good to know that it’s possible to hide chord symbols in the solo voice. I was hoping that there is a solution to alter whatever you want to in the solo voice without affecting the score. For example I just typed some lyrics into a part of the solo voice, but I don’t want these lyrics to appear in the score. Do you know a solution for that problem as well? Best regards, Enrico
I don’t think this feature exists. You could create a Paragraph Style for hidden lyrics, with transparent foreground color (and a very small size maybe, for vertical spacing). Then you select all in the score, filter the lyrics, and in the Properties Panel, apply (Locally) this Paragraph Style.
