AWOL Frequency 2 and other new VSTs

I have had Cubase 11 through to 14 yet never did I receive Frequency 2 or other new VSTs like it. Your inept support indicates I check Steinberg Download Assistant, but it is not there. So I ask you, Steinberg, to check your head/code/download-assistant/whatever-it-takes and fix this bug because I have not received what I’ve been paying for - for years!

What version of Cubase? (Pro, Artist, elements, AI, or LE?)

I’m viewing this forum with Cubase, but no tags so I don’t know what version you have.

Cubase Pro.

Yes, if Pro, you should have it.

Frequency2 is not going to show up in your SDA. I know there is a heading that says “VST Instruments & Plug-Ins” and that is a bit misleading.

Did you open your Plug-In Manager, and search for it there? It will say “frequency” and not “frequency2” however if you open that plug, in the lower left it will say “frequency 2”

Frequency2 has an excellent feature not found on any other dynamic EQ that I know of. You have been missing out.

What are the other new ones? All of them? Just a few? Are you confident your SDA is updated to the latest version?

Even though no one here is “Steinberg,” there may be additional benefits of focusing on your issue instead of assuming there is a bug which most other users have not experienced. The choice is yours.

If you want to communicate with Steinberg, contact their support.

Hi,
I’d suggest @Greg_Purkey 's advice first and use the search field in Studio/PluginManager.
In case you really can’t find Frequency and the issue persists, I would start with renaming the preference folders of the last three Cubase version on your system (while Cubase is turned off) by adding an X as a prefix. Afterwards, launch your latest Cubase version and have a look again. Maybe, your preferences got corrupted at one point and you inherited this bug from version to version.

Thank you both @Greg_Purkey and @Reco29 . It so happens that after updating SDA and downloading a few (around 10 out of 100) VST Sounds and checking back in Cubase I now see the Frequency plugin listed as Frequency2! I’ve no idea what did it as none of the actions I took seemed to be related directly to the Frequency VST.

My understanding is that some of Voxengo MSED has ended up in Frequency2 and those are the kind of features I’m looking for.

Glad to hear that it works :+1:
It is highly unlikely, though, that Cubase confused two plugins…
Anyways, it works now and that’s what matters!

Did you read that somewhere about Voxengo and Frequency2?

There are lots of dynamic EQs. Other than the Frequency GUI, the main feature that sets Frequency2 apart from any other dynamic EQ to my knowledge is that it offers both side chain channel inputs, and side chain sources. Iirc, Dom in a couple tutorials explains that further. For me, those functions come in very handy.

I rank Aleksey as a genius, but he has apparently struggled with mental health for most of his life. Regardless, I consider all his plugs very useful, and they have been staples for years.

However I have never heard of any relationship with Aleskey and Frequency2.

Oh, I misread your post…
What kind of features are you looking for?
Frequency2 is indeed one of Steinberg’s strongest plugins IMO. Although Frequncy2’s manual can be a tat confusing at times (the old documentation issue… :face_with_bags_under_eyes: : )

I heard Steinberg acquired the Voxengo IP, given Frequency2 has mid side features I figured that might be an instance of it in Cubase. Guess I heard wrong.
