Hi everyone,
any idea about why do I get this message?
Thanks,
Art
Hi,
can you try to pick another target folder for your backup?
Also, very long file names can cause this kind of issue. Please, try to open the pool (Ctrl + P) and check if there are very long names. If this is the case try to shorten them.
Hope that helps
Hi @Reco29 ,
yes I tried to or three different folders with different names; I could try a different location too, maybe, I didn’t try so far…
Do you mean audio file names in the pool, I guess. They shouldn’t be too long but I’ll have a check..
Thanx,
Art
No way…
Changed location, folder names, eliminated unused files from the pool…
The error is still there ![]()
Hi,
It’s not just about very long file name, but also very long path to the files. Where are the files located?
Has the folder write permissions?
Hi @Martin.Jirsak ,
files names don’t appear to be too long, I would say…
file path is username/music/cubase projects/song name/media/audio
I checked all project folders and subfolders, music folder too and all have read&write permutation but back up didn’t go well…
Does this happen with any other projects? Or just this one?
As an aside…
I’d be very disinclined to use any folder in “username” for any of my data/projects. Nothing goes on my C: drive unless it has to be there.
Hi @Googly_Shakespeare ,
generally it works fine…
Is there a specific reason?
I’m on a Mac, anyway, and we have no C: drive… I’m using a folder inside the default music folder and I never had issues surely related to this even if it always could be a first time…
Thanks for answering,
Art
Then I’m out.
Thanks anyway ![]()
No problem.

I would add that all the responses, so far, seem to assume Windows. Maybe put the OS in the opening post?
Maybe @Reco29 one (ctrl+P); I didn’t notice it, actually but I think it’s not relevant as in MAc is Command+P, quite the same…
I have all my main data (as many users do) in the profile image, if you click on it ![]()
Guilty as charged, I was being sloppy. I should have written Ctrl/Cmd & P… ![]()
and you have too…
It’s not that serious, I would say
I used to be a windows user in the past and I still make a bit of confusion between car and cmd, I always have to think of it…
As I wrote to @Googly_Shakespeare I even didn’t notice you’d written ctrl…

absolutely possible!
Let’s have fun!

I reply to myself, as I have found out a workaround to back up my project using the specific function in File menu, but this is only a partial solution.
If in the back up project options panel I also select “Make direct offline processing permanent” I can back up the project, and this is good; BUT: it shouldn’t be necessary, otherwise there wouldn’t be the option not to do it and most of the time I don’t select it even if I have some offline process running, here and there…
I couldn’t guess what’s the specific bug but it has to be project related…
Hope it helps,
Art
