So today I turned it on and it has sound again. so fickle. yesterday sound was present in the middle of the day and then suddenly disappeared while I was in a project. Are these symptoms a clue to what might be wrong. (heats up, needs a rest?)
I wonder if it uses the same PSU as the EIV’s did? Those are notorious for dying and causing issues with the samplers, wouldn’t put it past it to do it in one of the ROMplers either.
Both of my E6400 Ultras have replacement PSU’s from Digikey nowadays after I started having some wonky boot issues, rock solid as ever considering how old they are.
I’d almost bet after 20 years, that soldered CMOS battery is dead too. When those go out on the Boss SE-50/SE-70, they still somewhat function, but the display turns to gibberish. I actually got one of my SE-50s REALLY cheap because it was “broken”. All I did was swap the battery once I got it, now I have two SE-50s and SE-70s that just wont die.
