Cubase 15-2026-02-10-235906.ips (612.8 KB)
I’m getting a bit fed up with Cubase… some people complain about Pro Tools, but Cubase isn’t far behind.
I never had any problems with Cubase until version 14, which has become a complete nightmare.

just to rub it in my Cubase never crash on backing up if you are talking about backup project to new folder. I have recently upgrade from 15.7.2 for tahoe 26.2. all work very nicely.
your crash seems to be:

hi Glenn and thanks for answering.
I don’t know how to read these dump files.
it is very frustrating to be paying for updates every year and for these serious things to happen and the worst of all is that Steinberg doesn’t seem to care…
anyway, it’s time to get back to work. We’ll see what surprises Cubase has in store for me
I remember once not too long ago Cubase crashed when using Back Up Project. I somehow figured out it was due to sampler track audio clips in the audio pool being incorrectly referenced. I ended up rendering the sampler tracks and removing them from the pool. It then backed up fine.
In my particular case, im no using sampler tracks. Just some groove agent instannces, using my own presets and internal libraries, like Marco Minnemann drums. Sometimes (almost of them) BK project works, but another ones, crashes cubase..as always Cubase 13 works perfect!
Another MAGIC Crash making a Back Up Project!!! This software is fantastic!

I’m assuming you have contacted Steinberg support. Are they not responding?
most likely only Steinberg could fully understand these feedbacks. I hope you submit them to Steinberg on Cubase start up. I dont understand too much of them either but it seems it is the Cubase program itself crashing.
I have logged this. It looks like this could be closely related to another crash when removing unused files. I think we might have a fix for this
I have too much work, but as soon as I find a moment I will write an email with these questions. I have an IPS and DMP monteon to introduce to Steinberg. In the course of a version it has not been addressed or commented on (only Paul, now) therefore I have no faith that they will fix it. Steinberg supposedly supervised the forum, Martin Jirsak has reported these errors to the development team, and nothing has been done.
I have a lot of Steinberg software, which I enjoy every day if it weren’t for these inconveniences. In the case of Cubase, I don’t have any major problems in WaveLab, for example, which I just updated to the new version without hesitation and it is software that I don’t master. hardly, but there I am trying to learn to defend myself in it.
with cunase I have been using it daily since version 5, for work and fun too, but lately since v14 it has become a nightmare.
Is this for Cubase 15 only?
I believe so, but I don’t really know the detail. The crash site looks almost identical to one that happens with ‘Delete unused files’, which I think is fixed.
The problem exsists in C14.
Ok… I have been working on a very large project in C14… I have deleted unused files many times without having this issue.
I also have done a few Backup Projects, again without seeing this.
What I always do though, is to move unused files to Trash before deleting them from disk… Hmmm?
Not starting using C15 yet. I guess I hold back until the next maintenance update.
again, Making a Back up project…Crashes Cubase.

Does anyone know WHEN this program, which claims to be PROFESSIONAL, will work as expected? Thanks.
