Bar broken at system with illogical beaming

I have a cadenza of one long bar with an unspecified meter over multiple systems. The software is breaking systems midway through notes that have been beamed together. I have tried all I can to move these beamed notes to the same system with total failure. Any ideas? Thanks!

It looks like there are system breaks, so try to show the signposts for them to verify…
Should that be the case, you can move the sysbreaks around using shift + arrow keys.
Or, of course, place system breaks yourself!

Cheers,
Benji

Maxwell, there is a setting in Dorico’s own main Preferences, does a tick or untick here change anything?

Btw, is this an original viola concerto in b Flat?

When Dorico creates system breaks for long bars on its own, it will simply do so at the point at which the bar fills up the system. As Klaus suggests, you can manually set system breaks where you want, but you do need to turn off Snap system and frame breaks to barlines when creating first.

Hey all, that’s what I was about to recommend as well, until I noticed there are no barlines in the first place!
That’s why I recommended looking for, moving, and by extension, placing sysbreaks manually…

That was exactly what I needed, thank you!

I managed to fix it by showing signposts of system breaks, but thank you for your help! It’s an arrangement of a Mozart piano sonata for a duo of flute and viola

Fantastic idea Maxwell, it must be the K 333 then:

Precisely! Inputting this cadenza was way more difficult and time-consuming than actually arranging the entire piece  :joy:

The example you showed looked (almost) print ready. Well done!
