Does anyone know why I get the correct "rehearsal marks as bar numbers" in the score but blank squares in the parts? (see attached)

Welcome to the forum - because you’re brand new the forum software might not let you upload files yet. I’m not sure why you’re having this rehearsal mark problem, but as soon as the forum lets you upload files, could you please post your Dorico file, or a small portion of it? That will be the best way for us to figure out what’s going on.

Check Library->Engraving Options->Rehearsal Marks
You seem to have changed it also at certain places.

Not sure what you want but here’s the file with only letters.

Jesper,
My original post stated that I would like the Rehearsal Marks to be the “Measure Numbers” which it shows fine in the score.
But the parts are the problem! I get empty squares with no numbers in ALL the parts. Just as I did when I changed your response file from letters to measure numbers.
Again, the full score is fine…it’s the parts.
Peace,
Dave Lalama
Dave,
In the full score you will see (if signposts are not hidden) at the beginning of most systems the white cross in a red box.
The meaning is that the system doesn’t have a timesignature and so doesn’t have bars.
If you select them all and then hit delete they will disappear without doing any harm to your score.
Then your problem should be solved?
Jan
It looks like the independent time signatures in bar 1 and at the a tempo are the culprits. If you start deleting them and replacing with global time signatures, then the measure numbers show up in the rehearsal marks in the parts.
(@jgkzdl, the X is an explicit Open time signature, not a lack of time signature.)
@asherber, thank you for correcting me.
There was some other strange stuff also besides the x mentioned by @asherber and @jgkzdl . XML-import?
I changed the bass instrument which might have been a singer and removed the bracket change. Still took a while to get the piccola and clarinet to show rehearsal marks. Hope I didn’t destroy anything.

Dear Jesper,
You Sir are a miracle worker! I have no idea how you fixed Piccolo and Clarinet 1/2, but you did indeed fix it.
Yes, it was a Finale xml that mostly worked, but the playback for certain instruments was sketchy.
That said, I cannot thank you and your team enough for your help in this matter. You did indeed save me time and energy trying to fix this.
If you ever come to NYC, please contact me so I can treat you to a Monday Night at the Village Vanguard, Mezzrow or Smalls.
Peace,
Dave Lalama
De nada, Spent 6 months in NY in the 80:s
Had a standing invitation to the Vanguard every Monday night when Mel Lewis jazz orchestra played. Great times.
