Barline-attached markings

I want to recreate this traditional style for repeats. Is there a way to attach a symbol to a barline? I thought I could replace the wing glyph and use winged repeats, but this also affects the system brackets.

Is this what you’re looking for?

I created two playing techniques called Repeat start and Repeat end which have different appearances above and below the staff. Each appearance uses four instances of accidentalCommaSlashUp (U+E479) or accidentalCommaSlashDown (U+E47A). I applied the playing technique at a rhythmic position near the repeat barline, flipped it below the staff, applied the playing technique again, then selected each technique and moved it over the barline in engrave mode.

Here is the Dorico project containing these playing techniques:

Yes, this is how it should look like. I was just hoping for a way to position the markings relative to the repeat barlines, so that they wouldn’t be affected by note spacing changes.

Since a fermata can be attached to a barline, you could add two copies of an uncommon fermata at different rhythmic positions in the bar before a repeat barline, select one copy and set its Placement property to Below in engrave mode, then select both copies and activate the Attach to barline property. Here is an example using two uncommon fermatas:

The Edit Music Symbol dialog could then be used to replace the glyphs of these fermatas with your desired markings. The fermatas can be moved horizontally to the desired positions in engrave mode.

The advantage to using this method is that the position adjustments to the fermatas in engrave mode are typically not affected by changes in note spacing. However, this method cannot add markings to a start repeat barline at the beginning of a system.

this is what I needed. Thank you!

EDIT: unfortunately, this doesn’t work when a repeat bar is at the beginning of a system. So, manual placement is unavoidable after all.
