Barline popover "end" creates double repeat

why is Dorico creating this when I use the barline popover and type “end”? Obviously I only want a simple end repeat…
same thing happens when I type :expressionless: (how to over-ride/escape out of smileys?) which is obviously not :|: or similar.

Can you post a cut down version of your project that demonstrates the issue?

And you can bypass emojis by enclosing the characters in backticks: :|

:| testing backticks haha. sounds like something you could get a disease from.

ahem. project here: Dropbox - Error - Simplify your life

why my cut down project is >4MB I don’t know, or I would have attached it. Apologies.

Dropbox not working there. This is embarrassing ha. I can’t even get this to u. I’m useless. :joy:

No worries, I got the file.

Dorico files store a lot of playback information, even when you remove most of the bars and instruments. You can always set the Playback Template to Silence before saving; when I do that here, your file shrinks to 500KB.

When I delete your double repeat barline and then add a new barline with end or :|, it works fine for me. I also have no problems adding a repeat end barline elsewhere in the score. Do you see the same thing?

One other thing: If you previously entered a |: barline there by mistake, and then invoked the popover again and did :|, Dorico doesn’t replace the original barline – it basically combines them. Is that maybe what happened to you?

I don’t know what I did there. I swear I had deleted the barline before and it was still acting up. Now of course it works. So sorry to bug you over something like this. But hey at least now I hope you are dreaming of hip hop bluegrass.

Thanks for the hot tip re: Playback Template to Silence.

Thanks again. Donno what happened. I shouldn’t do copywork this early in the morning.
