Bars crunched together, not editable

What makes this happen? After upgrade to Version 5.1.51.2153 (Aug 6 2024)
Dorico 5 AudioEngine Version 5.6.41.124; running on Mac mini M2 pro 32GB Ram, Sonoma 14.6.1 (but this happened also with Sonoma 14. 5)

You’ve presumably hidden all the bar rests, either using Edit > Remove Rests, or selecting a note or rest earlier in the music and setting the Ends voice property.

If you can’t figure out where you went wrong, attach the project here and we’ll figure it out for you.

For some reason, there are TWO bars numbered 50… No idea why… I deleted the “second” bar 50 (with the 3/8 time sig) and the remaining bars “uncrunched.”
But now I have instrument filter dialog box “stuck”… I should know better than to update Dorico right away…AHHH

You can hide the instrument filter overlay via View > Instrument Filter Overlay.

Brilliant! One more… what happened to the “display” of rests in empty bars?

If it’s not what I said in my original reply, i.e. that you have used Edit > Remove Rests or set the Ends voice property, check the Show bar rests in empty bars option in the Bar Rests and Multi-bar Rests section of the Players page of Layout Options.

You are magic, mate! Cheers!
