Bass Drum Mapping

Hey all! I use East West OPUS as my third party vst for the sound libraries. I have utilized the expression mappings for most of the instruments, but I don’t know how to set up mappings for percussion. In this example, I load up a bass drum part in the sheet music. Now in OPUS, a normal hit to the drum is set to C1. Rolls are set to E2. Piano to forte rolls are set to G3 ect. Ect. But in dorico, I can only place one note (which makes sense) but it activates a D1 on playback. Is there any way I can change it so that I can utilize the different sounds on OPUS in Dorico?

Welcome to the forum @chrishgarcia98.

You can make changes to instruments and playback techniques via the Percussion Map that your Bass Drum is using.

Hopefully it makes a little sense, but each MIDI note has a slot that you can choose an instrument and playback technique for.

In your case, you would assign the Bass Drum to MIDI notes C1, E1 and G1, using the playback techniques Natural, Tremolo and Fortepiano respectively.
