Bat out of Hell (Eine Fledermaus aus der Hölle)

I posted this quite a while back. At that time it had been composed in Notion (before Dorico) and imported. It was one of two 1st runner-ups in an international orchestral composition contest back in 2006. I have since that last post redone it completely with Dorico. I’m really impressed with the difference-aurally and notationally. I am so grateful to the Dorico team for such an awesome tool for composition! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Great work, sir! You have given me renewed inspiration.

The first bars really drew me in, and I love the powerful climax. Impressive.

Thank you! It took a long time to find what, for me, was an appropriate musical description of hell for my little bat to escape from. Funny thing is, it wasn’t a deliberate thing, but my “bat motif” as well has elements of the ‘hell motif’ (as you did in Rails) ended up occurring in variants throughout the piece. Gave it a sense of cohesiveness it wouldnt otherwise have had. I guess my thoughts about the work as I was writing it- as well as the several months it took to complete it- brought it all together- even if subconsciously.
You’ll find your way for the work- and it’ll be, as all your works have been, great.
