I do audio post in Nuendo and keep running into the same limitation with video export.Typical job:
I get a full video.
Then I get several shorter versions of that same video.
The VO talent records many takes and the client wants to see and hear all of them against picture.
Right now, to make previews I have to:
Manually set the range for each version or take.
Export video.
Repeat this over and over (sometimes 10+ times).
People suggested using “Replace Audio in Video” and selecting all video events. That does work, but Nuendo assigns all exported videos the same file name by adding a digit at the end, so I lose the original names. I really need each export to keep its own name based on the name of the marker.
What would help a lot:
True batch video export:
select multiple events or cycle markers,
export all of them in one go,
one video per event/marker,
each file with its own proper name (event name, marker name or token).
This sounds like a simple feature, but for post it would save a huge amount of time with cutdowns and VO alts. Nuendo is very strong for post, yet this part feels overlooked.
About Nuendo 15: the new automation and folder features are nice, but paying 199 USD mainly for that feels high while basic workflow issues like batch video export with proper naming are still not solved.
Moreover, I did not see any uniqueness from the cubase version in this update (the only one is the analyzer), all these functions are inherent now or will be inherent in cubase, but the nuendo upgrade fee is higher. It’s kind of unfair.
Please consider improving the video export system and adding real batch export by markers/events with correct naming. It would be a big quality‑of‑life upgrade for post users.
Definitely, agreed. While I appreciate the new options in video export quality and file size, it’s kinda ridiculous that we’re still not able to export multiple videos based on markers.
Come to think of it though - maybe it would make more sense to add video to regular export options?
In the regular export window we already have source selection, a name generation system, presets for parameters and a batch export section. At least from a user perspective perhaps it would make sense to simply add a video section and that way all exports could be batched in one location.
Or, as we have said elsewhere, open up “deep” scripting for Nuendo and someone can code functionality to make it happen (?).
Either way. I don’t care if it’s a separate video export window or in the audio export window - just give us the ability to export multiple videos based on cycle markers.
I’ve asked for this in the pasts and believe its on their radar and I had a dev agree that its logical. I hope they take it seriously. I’ve seen others ask for it as well. The more people that ask the better. Don’t hesitate to add in some votes to it.
