Batch Processing Metadata Question?

Hi everyone!

I have over 400 WAV files (NOT MP3s) that need Track number as metadata. Since I’m working with WAV files, I see that I need to select the RIFF tab in order to insert metadata. The catch is that they won’t go from 1 to 400ish. Instead I have about 45 groups of files that need to be numbered from 1 to 10, or so (some of them go from 1 to 18, for example).

Is there a fast way to do this in Wavelab? I have the latest version.

Thanks!

I’m afraid the fastest way is to do it by hand.

What if I created 45 montages and then batch process them, would that make it faster?

That’s the only “solution” I can think of right now.

As far as I remember, there is no way to increment the track number in the batch processor.

The faster way would be to create a montage with as many titles as audio files and use the variable “title index” in the metadata field. But you also need to create title markers without gaps thanks to the album wizard. This is why I’m not sure this will be faster.

I see. Thank you for your reply even though you’re busy with NAMM. I appreciate it!!

Have you tried MP3TAG? My understanding is that it handles a ton of file formats (not just MP3 files!) and it MIGHT help you - the name of the app is misleading. Pretty sure it supports WAV too. It has a batch editing mode, so maybe, cross fingers it will do what you need. :crossed_fingers: I have NOT used it for what you describe though. But worth a test…
