BBCSO - Playback issues with legato

Hi,

i have a BBCSO Clarinet part and the playback of the legato is a little bit weird. Any ideas how to influence this positively?

Sounds like :

Best regards,

the timing of Spitfire libraries legato can be pretty odd. it’s also a frustration of my relatively recently acquired Spitfire Chamber Strings which have a gorgeous tone but the phrasing of patterns including repeated notes can be pretty frustrating. Removing all randomisation doesn’t seem to do much here.

The good news is that employing the NotePerformer Performance Engine improves the results out of all recognition and for me is an essential purchase for serious users of the BBC SO in Dorico. I suggest testing it out. Otherwise, the only thing will at least get the timing right is shortening the first of the repeated notes a little in the Key Editor.

Seconded! Noteperformer and the BBCSO NPPE make a huge improvement.

Spitfire Chamber Strings is not supported by NPPE, unfortunately.

indeed, though with luck in the future! I really like this library but some passages do result in a certain amount of head-scratching.

BBSO but also some other SA libraries seem to have playback issues when note repeats have no small rest in between. You don’t have to see it in the score you can just change the playback note length in Dorico.

Also check what your dynamics settings are as this library reacts strongly to first note accents settings like pitch contour preferences
