I’m using the BBCSO template in Dorico 4 and when I open the project either:
The playback simply doesn’t seem to trigger the plugin.
Only some notes are playing.
This sometimes resolves after letting the playback go on for some minutes or restarting dorico but more often than not I just have to come back another time which is not sustainable.
This library is quite a heavy one. It takes quite some time to load, and that depends highly on the number of players you have in your score, your ssd speed and your machine power (ram, cpu). Can you give some of this context?
you don’t say if it’s the BBC SO Core or Pro but the demands of Pro are pretty heavy on the system and you may not have enough RAM to run it? The BBC player is also notoriously slow to load its patches as I found even with the Core version so even if your system can run the library, you’ll need to wait several minutes for the patches to load if you’re talking a full orchestra..
Thank you. I have the pro. I have enough power as it runs ok on other DAWs. Can I delete some instruments it in the vst section? The template loads the full orchestra but I don’t need every player. I’ve deactivated them in the setup tab but in the play tab I can see the vst’s are still loaded in the session.
The BBCSO Playback Template will only load VSTs for those instruments you include in Setup. It sounds like you are starting from a Project Template (with BBCSO as the playback template) that includes all instruments, which will indeed load everything (and take a long time).
