Hi Team, I’m trying to set things up so that all of the 1/16 notes are in groups of 4 (so 1/4 note value). I’ve done what I think is the correct in the notation settings. #13 on the left has the 5/4 bar with the beam going across all of the 1/16 notes in the bar.
Keep the notation options as you have them. For the 5/4 bar, enter the meter signature this way: [1+1+1+1+1]/4. It will display as 5/4, but each quarter note beat will display separately when subdivided.
Thanks for that. Getting closer… It now groups the beams as I’m after but displays the time signature with all the 1+1+1+1+1/4. I’ve gone into engraving rules and selected the single number option but still happening. Would you have any further suggestions?
You probably forgot the square brackets around the 1+1+1+1+1 - it should look like [1+1+1+1+1] (but will display as 5 after you press enter/return).
You’re entering this into the meter popover right? Or are you trying to enter it into the graphical “Create Time Signature” panel on the right side of the screen? I’m not sure if it is possible to enter these types of custom subdivisions into the graphical panel on the right - normally you would enter them into the meter popover.
Thank you! That was it as I didn’t have the brackets!
You can fix this up without reinputting the time signature, if you like, using the Properties panel.
