I’m writing a piece that is partially in 5/8. Sometimes I’d like the eighth notes to be grouped as 2+3, and sometimes I’d like them to be 3+2. In other words, I’d like the flexibility to be able to choose the beam grouping for any individual bar. Is it possible to do this in Dorico without forcing/locking duration?

(If it’s not, I’d suggest that this would be a great feature to add in the properties tab.)

You can change the time signature grouping each time and then hide the time signature (if you have lots of instruments affected) or you can use the beam-together option on each group if only a few parts are affected.

Neither is simple; both involve a lot of detail work to do this for a whole piece.
