Beaming In Complex Meter

Hello,

I’m writing a piece in 12/8, and are a few moments where the final dotted quarter is split into two dotted eighths beamed together. As long as there’s two, it’s fine, but anytime there’s just one on the second half it displays as a 16th note tied to an 8th. I’ve tried adjusting all the notation settings I can find but to no avail. I’m sure it’s something simple.

This is a case where you need to force duration. Select your tied note and type 4 O 5 . to shorten it to a single note, force the duration, and then make it the correct length again.

If this rhythm happens more times, you can copy the notes and re-pitch them (with “lock to duration”, L).
