I have recently been transcribing , probably against my better judgement, a contemporary piece for solo cello.
I ran into a problem involving beamed minims and then another issue when changes of clef appear after the bar line.
After an hour or so I managed this by changing quaver note heads to an open variety to mimic beamed minims.
I managed placing the clefs after the bar line by creating a separate flow for each bar and then carefully arranging them together in engrave mode.
Is there a quicker / simpler way?
The original and my effort is attached – and the issues are hopefully self explanatory.
Any suggestion are gratefully received.
Try this.
Input the change of clef as normal. It will be smaller than a clef at the start of the system. Select the clef and scale it up in Properties > Common > Custom scale. As the Clef change scale factor (in Engraving Options > Clefs) is 2/3, invert that to get 150%.
To move it to after the barline, go into Engrave mode > Note Spacing and select the small round edit handle for the clef then use alt/opt + right arrow (shift + alt/opt + right arrow for larger increments) to nudge it to the right. It will cover the note at the start of the next bar, so select the square edit handle for the first note and move it to the right using the same keypresses as for moving the clef.
Clef resize & move.dorico (1.5 MB)
Thank you for pointing out that the clefs can be moved, as well as the notes. Your suggestion will save me time in the future!
