Beaming Options No Longer Work

When trying to change the beaming options globally to adjust 6/4 from beaming eighth notes 6+6 (half bar) to 2+2+2+2+2+2 per beat instead, nothing is happening starting in Dorico 6.

The only workaround that changes the beaming is selecting the meter, hitting shift-M and plugging in [1+1+1+1+1+1]/4. It would be nice to be able to make this a default from the menu again.

Welcome to the forum, @BrassWarMonkey. You need to use [1+1+1+1+1+1]/4 as you suggest, but you also need to set Eighth notes (quavers) in quarter note (crotchet) denominator time signatures to Break at beat boundaries on the Beam Grouping page of Notation Options.

Thanks, but you misunderstood my question. That option is working correctly per each individual time signature, I am asking is there a menu option to set this as a default behavior for all similar time signatures. Such as Library > Notation Options > Beam Grouping or another menu route.

It will appear in the “Used in this Flow” part of the Time Signature panel, where you can select it again within the same document. (Or you can Alt-click a selected time sig into another position.)

But there’s no way to save this custom metre as a default, or similar.

Let me rephrase my question. I am not looking to create a custom time signature, I am looking to break the beams at the beat boundaries.

Typically in the past this menu option (pictured below) would work.

By default, 6/4 has 2 compound beats. If you want a different rhythmic grouping, you have to specify that in the time sig popover.

There are no other options.
