Beaming & Ties in 7/4

Hi! I’m just getting started with Dorico 5 after many years with Finale (familiar story!)
It’s going well but I’m trying to understand how to make the beaming & ties work in a 7/4 bar. Here is the passage without ties:

But when I add the ties, it redoes the beaming in a weird (to me) way:

But this is not what I want - I want the beams to stay at the quarter-note and not to redo in this odd way. I tried playing with Notation Options but couldn’t figure out which option applies here.

Is there are a way to prevent the default behaviour and keep the beams and ties they way I would like?

Welcome to the forum @ddddan.

Rather than enter the time signature as 7/4, try [1+1+1+1+1+1+1]/4.

The numbers inside the brackets(?) show the beat division that you desire etc

There’s also this new option, for 5/4 time signatures specifically, but it could still come in handy for others who find this thread:
