SO, having spent 20–30 minutes in the middle of a session with a client trying to figure out where the hell Beat Calculator has gone, and whether I was imagining it had ever existed, I discover it’s been canned.

That tap thing in the transport is NOT an adequate replacement, in fact useless given it’s driven by mouse clicks and not the space bar. And you can’t see realtime results and other functionality is lost.

Please bring it back. Otherwise it will only confirm my worst fears that complaining to the internet is ineffectual.

The Beat Calculator issue is not yet solved

TLDR: The trusty old Beat Calculator was very reliable and accurate. The new replacement is unreliable and inaccurate as it is relying on the users ability to perfectly time the 2 last taps down to the microsecond. Hmmm … I actually really like the new Tap function using Shift+Space and I am especially appreciative of having the six modes available for how to interpret the tapped tempo.
Since this function has been calibrated to a 1000th of a second, the tapped tempo will likely involve some decimals. But it’s on YOU as a musician/producer to interpret the correct tempo. I’ve never had a problem with this so I fail to understand the uproar.
But these days, people will complain about ANYTHING.
