Beat limit problem in free time section

New to notating a free time section in Dorico. @DanielMuzMurray was very helpful in setting me up but I have a snag. In my free time section I want to insert half notes and there are more than 12 (horizontally). After 12 half notes are entered Dorico jumnps out of the free time section and skips to the next meterd 4/4 bar and input is in 4/4. I have tried increasing/decreasing the rhythmic grid but that doesn’t work to allow me to input more half notes in my free time section. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong? All info appreciated.

If you turn Insert Mode on as you enter music, any existing music will be pushed forward. Once you’ve finished adding more music (beats), just switch it off. (This also works in reverse i.e. if you delete notes, music will be pulled back rather than rests appearing)

@DanielMuzMurray Thank you, again! I will give this a try and report back. I’m fairly certain this will be the solution.

I could not get this to work. I believe it’s because I was trying to insert a Free TIme section in the center of a piece with music already entered after the Free Time section. Double bars were a problem. In addition I was attempting to add two consecutive Free Time sections with a double bar between.

The solution that worked for me was to delete all of the music and bars that came after the Free Time section, add a single Free Time section and enter all of the notes for both consecutive Free Time bars into the single Free Time section and go back and add a double bar to create the two separate Free Time Sections.

This is an awful lot of writing to explain what I did but it was actually simple in practice and seems to work. Pasting the deleted sections back in after the Free Time section was created worked fine.

Sorry for the long-windedness.
