C14 Pro, W10.
I do “Select All” in the Project Window (no locked tracks), I do the same thing in the tempo track (it’s a variable tempo project), and in the marker track.
Then when everything is selected I move the project back exactly 1 bar (snap is on).
But then when I check the results, though the MIDI hits start out just fine, exactly on the bar, they very quickly go out of time, off the grid, as the tempo changes. So I can’t use the project.
Any thoughts please?
So do I understand you correctly that you want to move everything in your project a couple of bars to the right to make place at the start of the project?
Set the locator range to e.g. the first four bars, then “Edit→Range→Insert Silence”.
It you want to move everything to the left, the command would be “Edit→Range→Delete Time”.

I’m hoping the sense of deja vu I’m having is misplaced - i think I may have tried that long ago and had similar results (by possibly faulty memory - some one or more of the other tracks, like Tempo, Marker, Automation, didn’t get includedmoved properly), so that’s why I didn’t try your suggestion this time … but I’m excitedly hoping 
your suggestion will work - thank you
